Walking down the street the other day, we glimpsed a sign.
A loooonnng list of steamed buns, 1 RMB each (about 16 cents).
The guy in line in front of us was picking up his lunch.
We’d just come out of a restaurant, having already eaten our own lunch.
Nevertheless, we picked out a couple of buns.
The vegetarian one was surprisingly flavorful.
But the real prize was the classic pork bun.
We probably shouldn’t make it a habit of seeking out street food after having already eaten a full meal…
But…who could refuse? 16 cents!
Everything in your blog is familiar and makes me smile! I live in a city south of Beijing. It’s such an adventure! I’m pretty cautious with street food, but I make exceptions for steamed buns, roasted sweet potatoes, and incredible popped rice.
So glad you’re enjoying the posts Katie. I do miss living in Beijing from time to time––living in China is an adventure to say the least.
I’m definitely getting nostalgic by looking at your website (it’s pretty awesome). I love street food in China.
Thanks so much Sam! We’re fans of nostalgia. : )
